Big News!
This month we installed our Narcan vending machine which is contributed by the Tacoma Needle Exchange. This access is a huge asset to our community and the surrounding areas. This provides the ability for all individuals to pick up Narcan at no cost. This life-saving medication has easy-to-read instructions.
We had assistance from our local Community Service Officer, Officer Joe Palombi to provide more in-depth training on administering Narcan. We were educated on what opioid overdose looks like, how to administer Narcan, and what to expect afterward.
The Recovery Navigator Program and our Executive Director spent the day in Olympia on February 9th for Recovery Advocacy Day (RAD). We were provided the opportunity to discuss with our district’s legislatures why we are in support of upcoming bills and provide feedback on the Blake Bill. We believe that we delivered our message with purpose and plan to attend upcoming RAD events.
Recovery Café Orting Valley joined the Puyallup Sumner Chamber of Commerce and the Orting Chamber Of Commerce!
YAYA
We held a new logo competition for the youth and we received several submissions. All were wonderful on their own, that is why we merged a piece from each design to create an all-encompassing logo that fits our YAYA program just right.
Each week YAYA has a snack & Chat, the topics each week are different and either youth proposed or Youth Specialist is selected. Although the topics were wonderful this month, Officer Joe Palmobi won the show with his guest speaker appearance. Officer Joe was able to build community with these youth, answer their questions and help remove barriers with connection. The youth got to have a tour of his patrol car and drink Root Beer Floats. We are incredibly grateful for Officer Joe for taking the time to visit with YAYA.
Legendary Doughnuts in Orting sponsored our first Snack & Chat of February! YAYA is so thankful!
